Future Business Plan Update
Dear Members
It’s now been nearly 2 months since we all achieved a fantastic target to keep the club open. As mentioned before this took an enormous amount of support and effort to achieve the targets that were set, and I would personally like to say thank you to everyone once again.
Our main focus is to continue the enthusiasm, help and the support, and to recognise that there is still lots more members can to do to help the Club move forward.
Over the next few weeks we will be having numerous meetings to discuss plans on moving the business forward, and this notice board will have regular updates, informing members of our progress. The club website will also be updated with the latest information, and regular emails will be sent to all members on the distribution list.
Please find below an update of what has been happening in the last couple of months, concerning future plans of the club, entertainment plans for the coming year, and an update on members comments/new ideas.
December 2009:
Just over 900 members had signed up to next years membership to the Club, so most of the month was taken up sorting out all members and corporate standing order forms, collating the information, separating the categories and then separating these into various bank categories. These were then taken to the various banks during the Christmas week, where by all standing order forms have been processed and member’s payments have been taken. There are still a few members payments we are chasing up with the bank and this matter will be resolved by the first week of February 2010.
The next step was to redesign the membership database to incorporate the new membership categories and the different payment options. This was a long and tedious task, but 98% of the membership database has now been completed, and I would like to thank Stuart Blake for all his hard work on achieving this task.
Work stopped between Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, due to the busy Christmas period and New Years Eve saw over 500 members and guests turn up to the Club, which was a thoroughly enjoyable and successful night. Thank you to everyone that supported this event.
January 2010:
The management Committee met in January to discuss future plans and improvements for new business to the Club. It was agreed that one of the most important items on the agenda was to focus on entertainment and new activities at the Club for members and their guests to support and enjoy. Entertainment over the last few months of last year had taken a back seat due to all the uncertainty and work involved, but this should not been the case and I’m sorry that this was not better managed. Therefore we have now set up a sub committee to meet once a month to discuss and plan the entertainment of the Club, new promotions on the bars and kitchens and any other general ideas to improve the performance and services that the Club has to offer its members. The entertainment will be improved vastly with regular bar entertainment being on offer, and other old favourites along with some new ideas for other club functions.
Another meeting took place on Tuesday 26th January at BAE Systems Rochester Airport. In attendance were Mr A Frost (Club Manager), Mr A Dhanecha & Mr R Gupte (BAE Systems Representatives) Mr P Radley (Natwest Business Account Manager) & Mr A Metson (Metsons Accountancy Firm). Here we discussed in length the different options that are available to us to setting up a new business, ways of cutting costs through suppliers, ideas on business tax relief and grants and discussing finances to enable us to reduce the Clubs existing debt to a more manageable situation in order for us to start making planned improvements. A more detailed update on this meeting will be issued once we have met up again in the next couple of weeks.
The current status of the Club at the moment is still the same as before. The Club is still known as the BAE Systems Sports & Social Club, The current Management Committee is still in place to discuss current and future business of the Club. BAE Systems have not yet made the Club Managers Job redundant from their payroll at the moment.
The intention is still to focus on getting the Club Structure in place over the next few weeks, with the nomination process and positions being filled for Trustees, Directors and Management Committee.
The Club has received over the last few weeks a number of suggestion forms, committee and Director Nomination forms. These forms are currently being viewed by both BAE Systems and the Current Management Committee. Some analysis will then be produced for members to view on the different comments and new ideas put forward for the Club in the next couple of weeks.
